Enough people have asked about session length that I’ll just post here the email response I gave the first asker:
As for the barcamp no one’s going to cut off a session or freak out if it finishes early. We’ll go into the weekend with a firm headcount but no finalized presentation topics and in fact we’ll create the sessions schedule the first time we’re all in the same room…Remember you’re not necessarily talking/lecturing for [the whole time] either [and] it can be in the vein of “facilitating a discussion” or however relaxed and interactive you want it to be.
In other words, whether you have 90 min or 20 min worth of good stuff, when the time comes schedule yourself for the amount of time you plan to use. No one will blink, we’ve got all day. But also remember the law of 2 feet and don’t be offended if one of your initial listeners heads off to check out another presentation…
