Prepaid phones are convenient, low cost, and increasingly smart
For a certain class of people, including me, obsessed about our iPhones, there’s a quieter yet more mobile phone revolution is under way: the worldwide growth of prepaid mobile phones. Prepaid cell phone plans where you pay as you go without a contract, are the largest and fastest-growing category of mobile phones. According to Strategy Analytics, the worldwide share of prepaid mobile subscribers in 2010, over 74%, while net additions of new 84% are prepaid subscribers.
Even in North America, where we usually exceed prefer to “pay after” instead of “front pay”, the net additions of new prepaid customers the additions of postpaid.
With third 8000000000 prepaid mobile phone subscribers worldwide, it is difficult to grasp the profile of a typical user. People to manage their money are likely to decide just worried prepaid cell phone plans.
But pre-paid phones are not just for the financial situation in question. A few weeks ago I visited the San Francisco offices of high-tech start-up companies and asked their young, super smart, software developers, “which has a prepaid cell phone?” Eight out of ten raised hands.
to avoid the software developer, said accounts of the main advantage of prepaid phones is. There are several other heard I have already mentioned:
Granted, my $ 25 prepaid plans do not come with fancy cell phones, although one of them had a 2M pixel camera and another had an MP3 player and FM radio.
At the upper end, and Boost Mobile Metro PCS, both offer a Blackberry plan for 60 USD without contract.
Prepaid cell phones are already attractive, and new developments make it even more:
The ability to buy minutes for other ideal for all types of people. For example, companies such as transfer-To build international mobile refill networks enables U.S. consumers to minutes to their parents or friends’ prepaid mobile phone to add home, you can now 100 rupees of air time to Mom’s cell phone in Mumbai also include call help their friends.
So while the iPhone grabs the lion’s share of attention, not everyone can or wants to afford an expensive phone with an expensive contract. Prepaid phones are an increasingly attractive option

Tracfone have a really nice Samsung Finesse which has all the features of a smart-phone and more…3G, bluetooth, high-speed EVDO data connectivity and lots more! Teamed with their “double minutes for life” plan where you get double the minutes that you paid for when you buy airtime it’s a winning combination.
Very true! There is definitely a revolution going on in the prepaid wireless marketplace. Prices dropped dramatically the last few months. So much so that prepaid is now often cheaper than contracts.
For instance, I used to be on a basic cell contract for $40. It always worked out more like $45 to $50 due to the service fees etc. However, recently I switched to NET10 prepaid and now pay $20 to $30 per month for the same usage. HUGE monthly savings! The real bonus is that I now actually have better coverage than before. Shows you – don’t just stick with the plan you have been using for years. Look around and you will probably find a better deal.
